Inside a State
For each of 3,950 States older than two weeks, take the ten strongest alliances and ask what share of their power the leader holds. An even split would give it 10%.
Show as a table
| leader_share_band | States by the leading alliance's share of their top ten |
|---|---|
| 10-20% | 514 |
| 20-30% | 1,529 |
| 30-40% | 1,056 |
| 40-50% | 517 |
| 50-60% | 236 |
| 60-70% | 86 |
| 70-80% | 12 |
The most common range is 20% to 30%, with 1,529 States. Only 514 have a leader below 20%. In 334 the leader holds half or more on its own, and in 12 more than 70%. Yet the typical leader has only 1.21 times the power of the second: most States have one main alliance, a close challenger, and a long tail.
State vs State and the contest for the capital reward a State that gathers its strongest Chiefs in one alliance, which fits this shape.
To place your own State, open it under States and compare its two strongest alliances. A leader well above 1.21 times the second is more dominant than usual.
